Greetings from the recovery zone. Darla's discharge from the acute rehab hospital has been postponed until Thursday, 6/14. Her physician felt they needed more time to ensure her pain is adequately controlled before sending her home. She has been moved entirely over to oral pain medication now. With the addition of a new drug called, Lyrica which targets nerve pain, her pain is back under control. Effective pain control is very important to support her continued progress in physical therapy.
Darla was thrilled when she walked 289 feet yesterday with Kevin. Wow, that's nearly the length of a football field! Now, that's awesome progress!
The equipment that she will need at home has been delivered, the rehab program set up (RWW) and she has practiced getting in and out of the car with Kevin for the ride. Darla can't wait to see "my boys," her two little dogs. She is also anxious to move on to the next stage of her recovery and be back in her own home with Kevin and the girls who are home from college for the summer.
Wish her luck!
