Imagine my surprise when Darla called me this morning to let me know that she walked about 75 feet!!!
During physical therapy today, her therapist had Darla try the parallel bars to support most of her weight in an attempt to get her on her feet. Her feet haven't touched the floor since her accident. The PT was shocked to see that Darla was able to follow her walking down the aisle using the parallel bars and putting most of her weight on her left leg, the side with lesser injuries. This is a GIANT leap forward in Darla's recovery.
When I checked in with her later this afternoon, she was resting comfortably without pain from her adventure and looking forward to seeing what she can do in therapy tomorrow. She invited Dad to come watch her work with the therapists and to see her progress.
Wow, it looks like she might make that goal of going home by 6/10. Here is a perfect example of mind over matter!
