Darla was moved to a standard room today with two other patients on a medical floor. She is already missing her far too brief private room. Actually, this is a sign that her vital signs have been stable long enough to take her out of the ICU/CCU unit which is a good thing. She loves her nurses aide, Walter, and said he has been so helpful to her.
Darla sounds like she is resting comfortably tonight, although she was upset to learn that they gave her Norco earlier today when she is allergic to Vicodin. Norco is a generic form of Vicodin. This is why patients need to have an advocate looking out for them. Her nurse promised to keep a close eye on her tonight.
Today, Darla's hemoglobin is 8.7 and her hematocrit is 24.5. Both tests show slight improvement. They are also doing a daily ultrasound on both of her legs to check for blood clots. Pelvis surgery is still on the docket for Friday.
