Moving On - Acute Rehab

Darla has been discharged from UCI and admitted to Casa Colina, acute rehabilitation hospital in Pomona.

Wow! We didn't expect this to happen quite so soon. They informed her yesterday that since she is no longer an unstable, trauma patient and she is ready for rehab, they are transferring her to a facility where she can focus on regaining her mobility and progress to a level that allows her to go home. Once she is home, she will continue rehab either at home or on an outpatient basis depending on her progress.

Casa Colina has a well earned reputation as a top notch acute rehabilitation hospital. I've attached the link for your perusal: www.casacolina.org. Actually, it looks more like a beautiful resort rather than a rehab hospital. There are only 2 patients max to a room with a very large exercise room and a special suite designed to train patients on ADL's (activities of daily living) e.g., bathing, grooming, etc. Each patient room also has a desk with Internet access.

Darla was a little nervous about making the move, but Kevin called last night and said she loves it. She is excited that she can use her laptop now to feel more in touch with the world. At the moment, she has her own room.

Visiting hours are 4-8 pm Monday thru Friday and 12-8 pm Saturday & Sunday. The rehab hospital is only about 20 minutes from Kevin & Darla's home in Ontario, and it will be much closer for family to visit her. The hospital is located at: 255 East Bonita Ave., Pomona. Driving directions and a map is located at: http://www.casacolina.org/about/driving.shtml.

This is an exciting step forward in Darla's recovery.
