Darla had another great day. My mom and brother came to visit her in the morning, dad stopped by mid afternoon, Kevin came in right after work and Mandy & Danny stopped by tonight.
In between visitors, she worked with a physical therapist for the second time as well as an occupational therapist. While sitting up, she scooted to the foot of her bed while dangling her feet over the side of the bed. The big feat was transferring from the bed to a wheelchair all on her own. The therapists were standing by in case she needed assistance, but she managed on her own. This is lightening speed progress! She sat in the wheelchair for 45 minutes before transferring back to bed. Boy, talk about motivated to get home! She is dying for Kevin to be able to wheel her outside for some fresh air. This Wednesday will mark 2 weeks since the accident and cabin fever is setting in.
Darla was also sent down for the MRI on her left leg today. She is glad to have that over with and anxious to hear the results. She is hoping the results show no ligament damage so she can begin putting weight on her leg as this will assist her rehab.
I spoke to Darla about 6:00 pm and she said rehab was a lot of work and she was pretty exhausted; however, she was very proud of her progress. I could hear how happy she was with her accomplishments. She is anxious to see her therapists again tomorrow and determined to dramatically decrease any in-patient rehab time.
It's mind boggling that in a 13 day window, a person can move from the edge of disaster to the promise of healing and health again so quickly. We know all the prayers continue to have a profound impact. Darla wants to thank you for your love and support.
